May 19, 2008: Governor’s Budget Continues Funding for Small School District Deferred Maintenance Extreme Hardship

By David Walrath

While the Governor’s May Revision proposes to cut deferred maintenance funding by $222.6 million, the May Revision also proposes to reserve $39.6 million to fund fully the small school district extreme hardship program. This funding should be sufficient to pay for all of the approved projects. This is a significant victory for the many small school districts that use this program to protect their school facilities.

If your district has an eligible program, SSDA encourages you to consider applying for this funding. For more information on the extreme hardship program, please visit: www.opsc.dgs.ca.gov/Programs/SABPrograms/DMP.htm
